"It is so important to the overall health of our smallest patients to be able to visit the dentist early in life," says Horizon Health's chief dental officer in explaining the company's Smiles for Miles program, which provides free dental care to kids under the age of 5 in rural areas of South Dakota.
The foundation that supports the program, the South Dakota Community Foundation, has donated $10,000 to the Horizon Health Foundation, which will match any gift up to $10,000, the Aberdeen Standard-Times reports.
"This makes it possible for our youngest patients to get a strong start on their dental overall journey," says Michelle Scholtz, Horizon's chief dental officer.
"It is so important to the overall health of our smallest patients to be able to visit the dentist early in life."
